2 Tests with 2 Different Results

I've been an avid user of the Clear Blue Advanced Ovulation tests for awhile now. However, I wanted to test the credibility of these tests this go around of ovulation. I had my box from my last cycle and I also purchased a new one so I could test x2 at the same time. This morning I collected my urine in a cup after waking up and dipped box testers into it at the exact same time. One test came up with an O and the other came up with a flashing smiley face. I now am questioning how accurate these tests really are. I've always just used one test since they're so expensive, but decided to try something different this time. How can the tests be different? In my opinion, this makes zero sense and is frustrating!

To further my issues with the accuracy of this test -- I'm still dipping both testers at the same time in the morning in the same urine. Today one test showed a flashing face and the other showed a solid face. How can one test show I'm at high fertility and the other peak fertility when I'm using the same urine collection at the same time!?

If the test detect LH then they should both give the same answer.. I agree with you otherwise this test is telling you what a ( cycle calendar can tell you) and guess what the calendar is completely free

Hi,

Each holder adjusts according to your personal hormone profile with each test that you do. Also, if you introduce a new holder into a cycle, it won't have had time to adjust to your hormone level. In this case, using the same urine sample won't make a difference. If you miss tests with any of the holders, then you are likely to get conflicting results as you have. If you begin testing at a different point in your cycle with a new holder, then this can also result in conflicting readings

Sally

Hi Keri - Thank you for your response and using our products. We understand your frustration.

Each holder adjusts according to your personal hormone profile with each test that you do. If you introduce a new holder into a cycle, it won't have had time to adjust to your hormone level. In this case, using the same urine sample won't make a difference. If you miss tests with any of the holders, then you are likely to get conflicting results as you have. If you begin testing at a different point in your cycle with a new holder, then this can also result in conflicting readings.

If you would like any further information the Clearblue team is available to answer your questions and give you confidential advice by telephone. If possible, please have you tests and packaging to hand, and quote reference number 001787437A when you call.

Thank you.

I had the exact same thing happen to me. I am not able to create a new post regarding this. Used 2 clearblue advanced new holders from day 6. On day 11, one of them showed a peak fertility and other showed high fertility. Which one is accurate?

My last period came on 25th Dec'18 (flow started from this day spotting on 24th Dec'18). I started fertility test from 5th Jan 2019 and till 8th Jan 2019 my result came as low fertility. On 9th morning my result came  peak . I have not seen any  high fertility sign . Could you please advise if it's ok to see peak after low without high fertility sign and it can be ovulation time for me . In November my periods came on 23rd Nov 2018. please advise

Hi Rinki,

From the information you have given, it seems you started testing on cycle day 12, and Peak Fertility was seen on cycle day 16. If you start testing on the correct day recommended for your shortest cycle, it can be possible to go from Low fertility to Peak Fertility, if the hormones have naturally risen alongside each other.

Your most recent cycle was 32 days long, we would recommend to use your most shortest cycle to calculate when to start testing; as a baseline level of your estrogen is set with the first test in each cycle, therefore how soon you test can also impact your High Fertility results.

We hope this helps,

Sally.

Hi, sorry I'm unable to create a new post so I create a reply here. I tested with clearblue advance, using the last holder and strips I had from last cycle. The first test was O (low fertility) and 12 hours later the result was peak fertility (static smiley face). Out of curiosity, i bought a new clearblur advance test, and after 12 hours from the last test (peak fertility) the result from the new holder and new strip was high fertility (flasihng smiley face). Does my older holder gave me false reading of peak fertility or my new holder gave me false reading? Would it be possible to detect estrogen after LH surge has kicked in?

Many thanks in advance

Hi Jesica,

If you are suitable to use the test; this information can be found on the side of the box, then your result will be over 99% accurate. Please be advised you need to use one Holder during one cycle of testing as more than one Holder can give misleading results. We would typically expect Ovulation within 24-36 hours of seeing Peak Fertility (solid smiley). High fertility is first given when a significant increase in estrogen is seen compared to the first test done with that Holder in the given cycle.

We would recommend you stop testing now that you have seen Peak Fertility, and use just one Holder in your next cycle of testing if you need to test again.

We hope this helps.

Best regards,
Sally
