Bad batch of test strips?

I have been using the Advanced Digital Ovulation test for several cycles now, (am on my third kit), and have not had any issues with the test being read until the most recent kit including the tester and batch of test strips. I have received a testing read error 5 times now according to the instruction manual. I am certain I know how to take the test, as I have been using this product for the past 6 months. I just purchased a new kit as I am quite frustrated. Is this common? Any advice?

P.S. I attempted to first reach out via the 800# help line, but was on hold for over 15 min this am before giving up.
