Best time to take the test

Hi, normally it says that when using an ovulation predictor kit, do not test using the first morning urine since LH is synthesized in the body about 4 hrs after waking up. How come the Advanced Digital Ovulation Test says to test during the first morning urine? How will these affect the results?

Hi Joyce.  The duration of the LH Surge is typically 24-48 hours so you can detect it at any time of day as long as you use a concentrated urine sample.  The Advanced Digital Ovulation Test detects estrogen as well as LH and it's important for the estrogen assay to use first morning urine.

So the first morning urine is to detect the estrogen, then that will give me a blinking smiley face. Then after I can test anytime during the day until I get the solid smiley face?

If you wish, you can also continue to test with first morning urine if that is more convenient.

Hello
I woke up at 4 in the morning because I had to go bad, I collected a urine sample but I haven’t tested because it’s too early. What should I do? Can I test again later this morning if the first urine was to early?

Hi Susy,

If you are using the Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Test you need to use the urine after your longest sleep, if this was the urine you collected at 4am you can still use this as the urine can be kept at room temperate for up to 12 hours. If you slept again and urine later in the morning was after your longest amount of sleep then you will need to use this urine.
