Blank readout.

I'm using the standard ovulation predictor kit (purchased on Amazon), and I've used two different sticks and gotten no control line, much less a test line. The readout on the holder is completely blank. I had the absorbent part immersed in urine in a dry cup for 20 seconds each time, and it doesn't seem to be working. Suggestions?
