Can a dye run give false positive?

I tested with the Clearblue Advanced Ovulation Kit on CD 12 (I typically have long cycles) and got a 'low'.  Then the next 2 days I got the 'high' flashing smiley and today I got the 'peak' solid smiley (cd15).  When I ejected the stick it had a pretty big dye run.  Could this have caused a false peak?  I only ask because this seems very early for me and a test with a different brand was negative.
