Difference between a solid smiley face and a blinking smiley face?

I know when the smiley face appears it is your peak time. What does it mean when the smiley face appears but is blinking?

We're glad you're using Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests, Ashley.  Not only does it detect the rise in LH, but it also monitors the level of estrogen which increases in the days before the LH surge.  The test displays a flashing smiley face for the high fertility days leading up to ovulation, and a solid smiley for your peak fertility days on the day your LH surge is detected and the day after.

When your result is high fertility (a flashing smiley), have intercourse today to increase your chance of conceiving.  You should still test again tomorrow using your first urine after your longest sleep.  When you see peak fertility (a solid smiley), this is your most fertile time and your result will be displayed on the screen for 48 hours.  Have intercourse at any time during these 48 hours to maximize your chance of conceiving.  It's not necessary to test again after peak fertility has been identified, and it's not possible to perform another test while a result remains on the screen.  Your digital holder and any remaining test sticks can be saved for use in a future cycle, if necessary.

Best wishes for the new year!

Hi there,

i just bought this CB digital ovulation kit last week. First day i had a circle displayed on the screen. After that, Had 3 flashing smiley in a row. Did not really trust the first one i bought , so i went to buy another one - Which shows circle for few days. Did the test same time but with two different tools, one clearly shows flashing smiley face and the other one shows circle! What does that mean then? which one should i trust?

Hi Coee - It's important to use the same Holder from the day stated in the instruction leaflet for your cycle length so go with the first Holder that you have been using for longer and stop testing with the second Holder.  Good luck!

Hi Tiffany - Your chances of getting pregnant depend on the fertility of both you and your partner.  Sorry - we can't help with gender selection.  Wishing you lots of luck!

Try to have sex at least every alternate day on all your High and Peak fertility days.

Hi Annabelle.  If you think you may be pregnant, take a pregnancy test.  If you're not pregnant but are seeing multiple Surge results in the same cycle, then see your Doctor about your results.

Hi Sharna. High Fertility will be displayed when an increase in estrogen is detected.  Once High Fertility is displayed, the holder will continue to display High Fertility daily until an LH surge is detected or until tests are missed for 3 consecutive days.  If Peak Fertility is not detected in a cycle then an excessive number of High Fertility days will be seen.  If you have already seen 9 or more High Fertility days then we recommend you stop testing for this cycle as it's unlikely you'll go on to see Peak.

Occasionally some women may have an LH surge that is too low for the test to detect, or they may not ovulate during a cycle and therefore won't see Peak Fertility. This isn't unusual and may happen in approximately 8% of cycles. If you don't see Peak Fertility over a number of cycles, we recommend discussing this with your doctor. We'd be happy to chat if you'd like to talk through your questions.  Feel free to call us at 1-800-321-3279.  We're open weekdays from 8:30-5:00 ET.

So I took my clear blue ovulation test on Saturday 18 and got a solid smiley face, i never got a blinking smiley face. I just tested because my app alerted me that on the 18 & 19th were my highly opportunity to conceive, I BD on the 18th and today the 21st what are my chances of getting pregnant?

Hi Yazmin.  If you've had sex on one of your Peak days then you've given yourself a good chance of getting pregnant.  If you want to see High days as well in future cycles (if you still need to test) then start testing earlier as directed in the leaflet.

Hi Kate.  The number of High Fertility days displayed each cycle is personal to you and may be more or less than 2.  It’s normal for some women to see more than 2 High Fertility days in all or some of their cycles.  High Fertility will be displayed when an increase in estrogen is detected.  Once High Fertility is displayed, the holder will continue to display High Fertility daily until an LH surge is detected or until tests are missed for 3 consecutive days.

If an LH surge is detected, Peak Fertility will be displayed continually for 48 hours.   As you have seen less than 10 High Fertility days we recommend you continue to test each morning for Peak Fertility and remember that you have an increased chance of conceiving on High Fertility days.

We'd be happy to chat if you'd like to talk through your questions.  Feel free to call us at 1-800-321-3279 and mention reference1907202A.  We're open weekdays from 8:30-5:00 ET.

Hi Sarah.  Once the Holder shows High Fertility it will continue to show High while it looks for Peak.  The only way for the observations you report to happen if if you change Holders during a cycle.  It's really important to use just one Holder for a cycle of testing so it has the full information from all of the cycle.

Hi Brittany.  High Fertility is a plain smiling face that blinks.  In the leaflet it is shown with the things around it to show that the face is blinking but you won't see this on the Holder display.

So when the smiley face stops blinking that means I’ve ovulated ?

Peak Fertility is a non-blinking smiley face that stays on the screen for 48 hours to show your most fertile time.

Does that mean you will ovulate in the 48 hour time frame ?

If you get the plain circle does it mean your ovulation high peak days are next to come?

The empty circle is Low Fertility.  This means the Holder has not identified any substantial change yet in either of the hormones it is monitoring.

Hi,
I had 4 blinking smilies and now today I just got my first solid. Does that mean I am ovulating right now or I will ovulate within the next 48 hours? I tested this morning and saw the solid but if I did not have sex this morning did I lessen my chances?? Help

I think that means your most fertile in that 48 hour frame. I got a plain smiley yesterday and it is still showing up on my tester today.

Okay so it doesn’t mean I’m ovulating right at that moment it just means I can ovulate in the next 48 hours at some point?

That’s what I’m thinking. You could have already ovulated. But the egg would still be in your Fallopian tubes , until sperm reaches it.
