Digital Ovulation Test

Regarding your ovulation test kit, will the smiley face continue to flash even after the results have been read, or will it stop. I received a smiley face, but I'm not sure if it flashed since I wan't there when it finished reading. Thanks.

We'd be happy to help, Niki.  Which of our ovulation tests are you using - Clearblue Digital Ovulation Tests (with pink caps) or Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests (with purple caps)?

Thanks for writing back, Niki.  Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests track the changes in 2 hormones during your menstrual cycle:  estrogen and LH.  Estrogen levels increase in the days before the LH surge.  Because your partner's sperm can survive in your body for up to 5 days, and you can actually conceive by having intercourse on the days leading up to ovulation.

If the necessary changes in estrogen are detected, the test will display High Fertility as a flashing smiley.  The flashing smiley will remain on the screen for 8 minutes, then it will disappear.  Having intercourse during High Fertility days will increase your chances of conception.

If an LH surge is detected, the test will display Peak Fertility as a solid smiley.  The solid smiley will remain on the screen for 48 hours as a reminder that this is your most fertile time.  Have intercourse at any time during these 48 hours to maximize your chances of conceiving.  After 48 hours, the screen will clear, and your digital holder and any remaining test sticks can be saved for use in a future cycle, if necessary.

Based on your experience, if you're sure that the result was a smiley, it was probably a flashing smiley, as a solid smiley would have remained on the screen for 48 hours.

Hope this helps!
