Faulty Test Sticks?

I have randomly had test sticks for the fertility monitor completely white with absolutely no line on high fertility days. Are the test sticks working? This has led to a high fertility reading for 12 days.

Hi Lindsey, we're not sure if this is your first cycle using the Clearblue Fertility Monitor or if you've been using it awhile, but the monitor will need to get to know you.  It's possible to see more than 5 High Fertility days during your first cycle of use.  From cycle 2 going forward, the monitor will reduce this to between 1-5 High Fertility days for most women.  Feel free to call us at 1-800-321-3279 and mention reference #FB518 if you'd like to talk through questions. We're here to help M-F from 8:30-5:00 ET.  Best of luck!

I was more wondering why a few of the sticks never had a line or any blue at all. I know you aren't supposed to read the sticks, but I don't see how the monitor is supposed to read if there is nothing on it. Is this normal?

This is my second pack 30ct, I never saw this with the first pack of test sticks.

Hi Lindsey, on High Fertility days when estrogen levels are high and LH levels are low, it's normal for the test stick to appear to have no lines on it.  The estrogen line is formed differently than the LH line on the test stick.  The more estrogen that is detected in your urine, the fainter the line will be.  Also, it's very important to follow the instructions carefully, as using too much urine, not enough urine or inverting the test stick after wetting it can cause no lines to appear and impact your results.  However, please keep in mind that your result can only be read on the display and cannot be determined from any lines you may see on the test stick.

It's normal to have an occasional cycle where Peak Fertility is not detected.  If you don't see Peak Fertility for 2 consecutive cycles, we recommend that you call our Careline so we can investigate.  You might also find it helpful to call our Careline before you begin a new cycle of testing.  Our toll-free number is 1-800-321-3279 and we're open Monday through Friday from 8:30am-5:00pm ET.
