Flashing smiley after solid smiley. Did I ovulate?

I am using the clearblue advanced ovulation kit. I had several days of negatives, one day of the flashing smiley, and then received my solid for two days like you are supposed to. I only saw a very small rise in my temperature (even with coverline) after the day I thought I ovulated so I tested again that morning with the same stick (it no longer had the solid smiley, it had cleared off) and I got a negative. Once I got this negative, I thought maybe I didn't have my rise yet. The next day, two days after I thought I ovulated, I got a flashing smiley again. Did I ovulate? I had a horrible headache and lots of egg white cervical mucus which only happens at ovulation for me. I am confused. Is there a reason I am getting another flashing smiley?

Hi Shelby - Thank you for getting in touch and I apologise for the delay in response.

You are seeing another flashing smiley because the test is picking up the second rise in estrogen that occurs after ovulation.

The LH surge typically lasts 1-2 days so your negative result is indicating the end of your surge.

Body temperature can be influenced by a number of things such as infection or even a lack of sleep so it can be difficult to track.

You can rely on your Peak Fertility result. Having intercourse on the day of your Peak result and the day after will maximise your chances of conception.

If you would like more information then please don't hesitate to give our careline a call at 1-800-321-3279 with your test and packaging to hand, and mention reference number 001810337A.

If it was just a second rise of estrogen, then why did I receive another solid smiley after the second set of flashing smiley faces? Which solid smiley was accurate? Why did I have two peak results?

Hi Shelby - I'm sorry for the delay in response. A second peak result in a cycle that is days apart is not what we would expect to see.

Below are reasons why you might see results like this:

1) If you are taking any fertility medication that contains LH or hCG
2) If you suffer from Polycystic ovarian syndrome
3) If you are taking Oxytetracycline and Tetracycline.

If none of the above apply to you and if you continue to see results like this in your next cycle then please give our careline a call so we can help you further.

Ovulation will happen 12-16 days before your next period so a Peak result between those days can be relied on.
