Forgetting to put the cap back on when testing

Hi, I wanted to know if forgetting to put the cap back on the test stick will affect the results I get? I used the Clearblue Advanced digital ovulation test Wednesday and Thursday, both times I did not put the cap back on and I received a negative both days. Looking over the instructions again, I realized I had missed that step. I tested today and put the cap back on and it went straight to a positive (the happy face). I thought I would get a flashing face before the solid smiley face. I just wanted to make sure I didn't mess with the results.

We're glad you're using Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests, Brenda!  Replacing the cap just helps to keep surfaces clean while you're waiting for your result.  It is possible for the test to change from Low Fertility to Peak Fertility without displaying High Fertility.

This tests differently than other ovulation tests, as it checks for 2 hormones:  estrogen and LH.  If the necessary changes in estrogen are detected, the test will show High Fertility, and if the LH surge is detected, the test will show Peak Fertility.  Hormone levels and cycle length vary from woman to woman, so your High Fertility results are personal to you and may be more or less than 2.  The test can change from Low to Peak if your estrogen level isn't high enough to be detected by the test, if the changes in estrogen & LH occur on the same day, or if testing begins too late in your cycle.

It might help to know that Peak Fertility will remain on the screen for 48 hours as a reminder that this is your most fertile time.  Stop testing and 'baby dance' at any time within the next 48 hours to maximize your chance of conceiving.  Best of luck!
