Holder only good for a short number of days?

I bought the clear blue advanced ovulation kit last month and used it for 3 days (I got a flashing smily face on day 3) I came down with a nasty flu and needless to say hubby wasn't coming close to me and I didn't even think to continue with the test. It's been a month and I wanted to start it again, peed on the stick and click...then nothing. Is the holder only good for the month? It's a shame because I spent over $50 for it and can't use it now.
