Holder/reader for advanced digital ovulation kit failed after two uses - can I start with a new one or do I have to wait?

I tested twice with the advanced digital ovulation kit and then the holder showed the symbol that it means it cannot be used again. (I used exactly as directed and the same way I did the first two times, so I guess it's a faulty holder for some reason.) Can I buy a new kit with a new holder and get started again or am I screwed for this cycle because I have to have started with the reader/holder on the correct day?
