low reading on day third after solid smily?

I just bought the clear blue advanced ovulation kit. it was my day 16 of the cycle and on first use it gave a solid smiley. we tried for those two days. on the third morning I checked again and it gave a negative. what does this mean. is it possible that if u have conceived, it will give a negative result afterwards?

OPKs detect the surge in your LH levels, once you've ovulated, it can no longer detect that surge. Hence you getting a negative. No worries my dear! :)

Also, once you receive a positive for that month, there is no need to keep testing until your next cycle.

When I was pregnant this past February (ended up being chemical so I miscarried), I still got a negative on my OPK after conceiving. Your body doesn't have enough hcg hormone yet until the egg implants, which typically occurs 12-14 days post ovulation.  Only a pregnancy test will detect hcg.
