Hi Bianca, We're glad you purchased the Clearblue Fertility Monitor.  When your period starts, press the M button.  Don't worry that your period started yesterday - the M button can be set anywhere from day 1 to day 5 of your cycle.

To speak with someone in Australia about how to use your monitor, please call our Clearblue Careline at 01800 125 021.  Representatives are available Monday through Friday from 4pm until midnight AET.

Hope this helps!

You're welcome, Bianca.  Since you weren't able to set the M button within the first 5 days of your cycle, you should wait until your next cycle to set the M button.  I'm sorry for the time it took to respond to your first message, as our offices were closed on November 28 & 29 for the Thanksgiving holiday, and we're not open on weekends.

When you begin to use the monitor next cycle, keep in mind that the time you press the M button establishes the 6 hour window during which you can perform a test.  The testing window is set to run from 3 hours before the time you press it to 3 hours afterwards.  For example, if you press the M button at 6:00am, you can test anytime from 3:00am - 9:00am.

It's my pleasure, Bianca!  Day one of your period is your first day of full flow, so if you start the evening before, you can press the M button the next morning.  How exciting that you do a breakfast radio show :)

If your period starts during the day, after the time when you'd want your testing window, then you should wait until the following morning to press the M button.  You should set this as day 1 of your cycle.  Hope this helps, and I'll share how you feel about our instructions with the rest of the Clearblue team!

Thanks for stopping by again, Bianca.  I recall you were going to wait until next cycle to start using the monitor.  This was because the M button needs to be set within the first 5 days of your cycle, but it was already day 6 when we chatted.  So until the M button is pressed, when you turn on the monitor, it's going to want you to press it.  My suggestion is to wait until your next cycle starts to turn it on and press the M button.  Here are some step-by-step instructions for when the time comes.

1.  Wait for your next cycle to begin.
2.  Within the first 5 days of your cycle,  during the time you would like your 6 hour window, turn the monitor on by pressing the on/off button on the top left corner of the device.*
3.  You'll see a red light flash in the test stick slot and the display screen will briefly show the full range of symbols.
4.  After a moment, the display screen will clear and you'll see a "--" and a flashing "m" on the display screen.  The monitor is now ready for you to set the M button.
5.  To set the M button, press the button directly to the right of the screen firmly for 5 seconds.  Release it when an "m" and the day number "1" appears on the screen.  Both will flash when they first appear, but will stop flashing and stay on the screen when you release the M button.
6.  When you have set the M button correctly, the day number 1 and an M will appear, indicating that it's the first day of your cycle.**  A fertility status bar will also appear on the screen to indicate that your fertility is currently at a low level, which is normal at the start of a cycle.

*Remember, if your period starts later in the day than when you would need your 6 hour window, wait until the next morning to set the M button, and set it as day 1 of your cycle.
**If you're setting the M button on day 2, 3, 4, or 5 of your cycle, simply hold it down longer until the desired day number appears on the screen.

I think this should take care of it, but don't hesitate to ask if you have other questions.

Thanks!
Karen
