Not trusting my monitors

I have both monitors, and have used them side by side the last three months, as well as simple test-sticks. We are batteling infertility and I'm taking no chances to miss ovulation. The two previous months both monitors have just reached "high" - never "peak", while the sticks have shown ovulation.

Last month I had an ultrasound by my gyn, and she told me I had had an ovulation that period. This period the old one finally showed "peak", while the advanced one never did. The sticks showed ovulation a day earlier.

I feel I can't trust the advanced one and have wasted money on it. I'm not sure about the old one, as it showed "peak" before I got pregnant the last time (unfortunately I lost my son half way through). But is it any way it can be malfunctioning? I thought the advanced one was even more sensitive than the old one... I can't say I would recommend it to anyone batteling infertility like we do.

Hello Aryn - We're sorry to hear of your experience but thank you for your message and using our products on your journey to conceive.

Could you please confirm which two Ovulation tests you were using? The test with the pink button detects one hormone and doesn't display High Fertility results.

Our Advanced Digital Ovulation test detects two hormone and display High fertility when it detects a rise in your estrogen levels. It is important to remember that the tests do not tell you whether you are going to Ovulate or not. They detect a surge in LH which occurs 24-36 hours before Ovulation. Sometimes, an LH surge won't precede Ovulation. This is normal, and happens in approximately 8% of cycles.

The reason why you might not have seen Peak Fertility in your last 3 months could be because:

Tests were inadvertently missed
A more dilute urine sample was used
The LH surge was too low for the test to detect
You might have had a longer or shorter cycle length than usual

(Please bare in mind that it is normal to see up to 9 High Fertility days)

Both of our tests are sensitive to 40mIU/ml LH and should show a Surge/Peak at this level and above. The reason why you might see Peak Fertility on one of our Ovulation tests and not the other is because they can both also show a Surge at levels as low as 22mIU/ml LH and this will depend on batch variation and the previous tests done in that cycle.  Results like yours are therefore to be expected if the level of LH in the sample tested is between 22 and 40mIU/ml and this can be normal at the start of the Surge.

Please be assured that you can rely on your Peak Fertility result. Having intercourse on the day of Peak Fertility and the day after will maximise chances of conception.

Given the nature of your enquiry, it might be more beneficial to if you gave us a call at our careline number at 1-800-321-3279 and give reference 001799587A   We're open weekdays from 8:30-5:00 ET.
