Peak Fertility on 2nd day TWICE in one cycle

Hi I have started using the clearblue Advanced ovulation tests this month. as my cycle is around 30 days i started testing on day 10, got a negative, then a solid smiley on day 11. I thought this was a bit early ... so after the smiley disappeared i tested again yesterday (day 14) - the monitor was in new cycle mode so i got another negative and then today day 15 i got a solid again. Why arent i getting any flashing - its just going straight to peak, and this is my second peak this cycle - whats going on?

Thanks for choosing Clearblue, Jade.  Typically a woman will have one LH surge per month, and we'd expect the surge to last for 1-2 days before the level of LH drops back down.  Conditions we're aware of that can cause multiple surges are PCOS and menopausal symptoms.

We'd like the opportunity to talk through your questions.  Please reply to let us know which country you're in, and we'll be glad to give you the telephone number to call to speak with a member of our Careline.  Thanks!

I have had the exact same thing happen to me too.. two months in a row now. I have no symptoms of PCOS, just wondering if anyone has gotten an answer to this yet..

Hi Angela - We'd recommend you discuss your results with your doctor.

Hi Sofi,

This product tracks the changes in estrogen and luteinizing hormone (LH) throughout the menstrual cycle.  If the necessary changes in estrogen are detected the monitor will display High Fertility and if the necessary changes in LH are detected the monitor will display Peak Fertility.

If the hormone changes naturally occur close together, it is possible that High Fertility may not be displayed and that the monitor will change from Low Fertility to Peak Fertility without displaying High Fertility, or if the first test has been performed later on in the cycle, when the estrogen levels are already higher.  We would like to reassure you that this does not mean that your product is faulty and that you have still detected your two most fertile days to try to conceive.

For accurate High Fertility results it is important that the first test of the cycle is on the correct day for your cycle length as the Holder needs to establish a baseline level before your estrogen levels increases. You must also only use first morning urine - if you wish, you can start testing more than once a day with a 4-hour urine once you have seen High Fertility for the first time in the cycle.

I have been using the same holder over the past 4 weeks. I saw 3 high fertility days and then on day 18 peak fertility. It’s now 17 days later and I still no sign of my period. I took a clear blue pregnancy test and it was negative. I then used the same OPK to test, and it showed peak fertility again. Is that possible in an irregular cycle? I came off the pill 4 months ago and having irregular cycles. Any advice would be really helpful!

Hi Emma,

We cannot give medical advice sorry, if you tested and saw a 'Not Pregnant' result we recommend you retest 3 days after. If further results give you 'Not Pregnant' and your Period is still late, see your Doctor if you have any concerns. In regards to your Peak Fertility, we would only expect to see this once in the cycle about 12-16 days before the next Period. Please check you are suitable to use the test; this information is in the leaflet.
