Peak Fertility Smiley on the Very First Use

I just purchased the Clearblue Ovulation kit. I generally have 34 day cycles. Today is day 7 of my cycle, so I tested for the very first time today. The result was a solid smiley face that did not go away. According to the package instructions, this means peak fertility. Is it really possibly to have peak fertility on day 7 of my cycle, and on the very first use of the test? Or could this be faulty?

Hi Sarah - That is earlier than expected for a 34 day cycle. A result like this can be caused by any of the following:

- Fertility medication that contains LH or hCG
- A recent pregnancy or miscarriage (in the last 9 weeks)
- Poly-cystic Ovarian syndrome (PCOS)
- Pregnancy

If you last period was normal and none of these apply to you then please give our careline a call at 1-800-321-3279 with your test and packaging to hand, and mention reference number 001809243A. We're here to help!

Please also remember that the Peak Fertility result on the Clearblue Digital Advanced ovulation test is designed to stay on the display for 48 hours.

I started testing CD 10 and got a peak readout. Did it again on CD 12, 16, and 18 and got Peak readouts on all those tests using the same holder. I am on 50 mg of clomid and typical cycle length is 30 days.

See your Doctor about these results - we would not expect you to see multiple LH Surge results in a single cycle.

Same thing happened to me. Peak fertility on day 6 - first day of use. Could this be a false positive?

Hi,

I was using a clearblue digital reader (that I have used for the previous 2 months) and got high fertility for 5 days followed by a peak fertility last Saturday. I tested again today using a new digital reader and got a peak fertility straight after. Could any of these be false results?

Dear Izaan,

If you are suitable to use the test; this information can be found on the side of the box, then your result will be over 99% accurate.

Once you see Peak fertility (solid smiley) please stop testing, as you have detected your 2 most fertile days.

We would typically expect ovulation to occur 12-16 days before your next period, and the LH surge to occur 24-36 hours prior to ovulation.

If you have any concerns regarding your results please speak to your Doctor.

We'd be happy to chat if you'd like to talk through your questions.  Feel free to call us at 1-800-321-3279 and mention reference 001980572A.  We're open weekdays from 8:30-5:00 ET.

Regards,
Sally.

The same happened to me. First time using this test this month I got a peak followed by few days of low then having 7 highs.
I’m sure the peak is an error? I have been using the tests for several months and this is the first time I’ve a peak

Dear Leanne, If you are suitable to use the test; this information can be found on the side of the box, then your result will be over 99% accurate.

Once you see Peak fertility (solid smiley) please stop testing, as you have detected your 2 most fertile days.

We would typically expect ovulation to occur 12-16 days before your next period, and the LH surge to occur 24-36 hours prior to ovulation.

It is normal to see High Fertility after Peak Fertility has been seen as there is a second rise in estrogen which occurs after ovulation. To assist your use, we recommend you stop testing once you have seen Peak Fertility.

We'd be happy to chat if you'd like to talk through your questions.  Feel free to call us at 1-800-321-3279.  We're open weekdays from 8:30-5:00 ET.
