Plus Pregnancy Test - No Line in Control Window

I bought a Clearblue pregnancy test and it showed a minus in result window. and in control window there was nothing, before even peeing on it. I tried to pee on it and it did nothing. I think I got a dud. I took pictures before I peed on it if you need to see. Thanks

I took a clear blue test and it has a faint neg line and no line in the control window. Is this test faulty? How do I get my money back?

The test are faulty. I bought a box of 10 ovulation test which came with a pregnancy test as well. Only 4 ovulation test work and the rest nothing came and the pregnancy did not detect as well. I will be sticking with my dollar brand pregnancy test and ovulation test.

So I bought a pack of 3 one showed negative and no control and the second before I peed on it showed a negative line it I brushed it off and still took it anyways I got a negative sign and this time I got a control I’m upset with this company because I shouldn’t have two totally different results

Hi Jasmine.  If your test has no control line in the first 10 minutes then it has not worked and the result is invalid.  This usually happens due to too much or not enough urine or inverting the test after sampling.
It's normal to be able to see a '-' in the result window before testing - this symbol is part of both positive and negative results.  If your second test looked like the 'not pregnant' result in the leaflet in the first 10 minutes then you have a 'not pregnant' result and should retest in 3 days time if your period has not arrived.

2 out of the 3 pack of digital clear blue pregnancy tests I bought didn't work. I followed the directions and absolutely nothing showed up on the screen. I'm really in no position to keep buying pregnancy tests and I am very disappointed that I can't get any closure

Hi Heather,

If your result looked like this within the first 10 minutes, and you are not currently taking any medication containing hCG, and have not recently been Pregnant, this would be a Pregnant result. We recommend to speak to your Doctor next.

So disappointed with Clearblue. Rather than the cheaper store brand, I paid out for Clearblue double-check and date which is nearly 4x the price. I followed the instructions exactly: 5 seconds, the tip went pink, laid it flat and then no control line. So many people with the same problem can't all be user error. I'll obviously repeat the test (I'm sure clearblue realise this and bank on people paying out again for another clearblue test after a dud) but I certainly won't be buying or recommending Clearblue!

If there is no control line present or the control line does not run from top to bottom of the window, please disregard the test result and retest, as it will be invalid.

In our experience this can occur, if either the test becomes too wet or under wet during sampling, if more than the absorbent tip became we tor if the test was not kept pointing downwards. We would recommend to try a collected sample as we appreciate you may have more control with this method. 

Please keep the packaging for your test and call the Careline and quote your reference 001990082A, so that we can take a further look into this for you and try to resolve the issue. We're open Monday to Friday 8.30 till 5 ET. We look forward to hearing from you.

I work Mon-Fri, 8am-6:30pm so cannot waste time sat on the phone to your helpline. Especially when your standard response here is always the same. I've used other tests with no problems in the past so am convinced it is a faulty product, as it seems are many other unhappy customers. I'd rather cut my losses than waste more time and money on Clearblue.

Hello,

I bought a pack of 3 test sticks, as I have missed my period. The initial one I took 3 days ago showed a positive result. I decided to take the other 2 today, however the second one showed a much more faint result and the third did not show anything in the control window. I am not sure whether this affected it, but for the 2 taken today I washed the end with water right after peeing on them. Could you please give me some advice as to how I should be interpreting these results? Thank you :)

Hi Ess,

Your first two tests would indicate a 'Pregnant' result. If your result appeared within 10 minutes, and you are currently not on any medication containing hCG and have not had a recent pregnancy or miscarriage in the last 9 weeks your result will be valid. Please disregard the last test result as the control line is not seen. Typically, no control line is associated with user error i.e. too much or too little urine being applied or the test being inverted after sampling. As you have seen a positive result, please see your Doctor next.
