Smiley face freezes and won't go away.

I've brought these tests twice now and each time the tester freezes with a smiley face. Then I'm left with strips I can't use because the tester is frozen. I like being able to see the smile but I don't like that before I'm even done with the whole pack of strips the tester freezes and I can't finish the pack. I've been told to use these by my doctor. Is there a way to get just the tester without the pack? It's getting expensive and I'm going to end up with a pile of strips I'll never use.

Thanks for sharing what happened, Stephanie. Your message didn't indicate which version of our ovulation tests you're using, but I'm guessing you're using Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests (with the purple cap). If that's what you're using, please keep in mind that peak fertility (a solid smiley) is designed to stay on the screen for 48 hours as a reminder that this is your most fertile time. It's not necessary to continue testing once peak fertility has been identified, and it's not possible to test again while a result is on the screen. The smiley will go away after 48 hours. So while we don't offer packages with just the digital holder, if you need to test again next cycle, you can continue to use the holder and any remaining test sticks you may have.

This same thing happened to me with my purple ones however I also have the pink pack and it just showed a circle so I assumed the one that is stuck was incorrect . Can you help explain please ? I took another one because I thought it should of been to early to be in peak already

I’ve had this happen to me as well. The smiley NEVER went away. I couldn’t use the tester anymore. I wish it didn’t remain on the screen and I could continue to test. I got the solid smiley the first day I started testing, so I’d like to continue to test to see if go away. That might help me know if my day one may have actually started the day before i tested or if it started the day I tested.

Hi Laura. Peak Fertility is designed to remain constantly on the screen for 48 hours and it will clear after that. Have intercourse at any time during this time to maximize your chance of getting pregnant. Stop testing for this cycle once Peak Fertility has been detected - you have found the information you were looking for. The screen will clear after 2 days, and your holder and any remaining test sticks can be saved for use in a future cycle if needed. If you have found Peak with your first test then you may wish to start testing earlier nest cycle so you have a chance of seeing your High Fertility days too.

this is poor product design. we're using your system to gather data for our fertility doctor. the "information we're looking for" is more than just when the LH spike started, but also how long it lasts and how long high LE lasts afterwards.

I feel like your company's choice to intentionally disable further testing is likely because it hides inconsistencies that might exist (e.g. a subsequent test goes back to flashing smiley and then the one after that shows solid smiley again).

we'll be switching to a less deceptive company's product.

We're sorry you are disappointed with the product. Our products are all designed for home use and to maximise the chances of conception by finding your most fertile days and timing sex at home. Peak Fertility remains on the display, as when the product is used as intended, there is no need to test again after Peak and the product design allows you to save the Holder and remaining test sticks for a future cycle if needed - getting better value from your product. They are not designed as a tool for monitoring hormone levels after the LH Surge has been detected. We recommend you ask your Doctor to suggest a professional product for the purpose they require.

Hello,
Trying for baby this month.Clearblues test was positive with solid smily today morning.We had sex in morning and in evening and planning to make love tomorrow morning and night.Is that enough to cover 2 days and can stop on day 3 once smily is gone.please assist as i am not sure we need to continue coitus on day 3 as well.First 2 days of solid smily are enough or shall we continue on 3rd day as well.Also if i get positive test in morning shall i wait for 12 hours for first intercourse?

The day you first see the solid smiley and the day after are your 2 most fertile days. There is no need to do any more tests this cycle. Having sex once on each day is all that is required but you can have more sex if you feel like it! Any sex on the 3rd day is just for fun! Good luck!

Mine is frozen on just the circle. This is the second one in a week and Im going broke buying new ones. It happened with the pink one two days ago and it happened with the purple one today. Please advise... this is frustrating.

Hello my name is Alex! I had a question about the accuracy of the ovulation kit. I tested yesterday for the first time and I got a blank circle. I tested again today (howver, I tested around 12 today because I totally forgot to use my first morning urine), and I got a solid Smiley face. Does this make sense? Is it possible to go from a blank circle the day before to my peak smiley already? Aren’t you suppose to get flashing smileys first before reaching your peak? Please advise as soon as possible! Thank you!

If you look at the calendar on your phone after it syncs, the smiley light will be flashing. It won’t be flashing in the test itself. I just learned that 2 days ago. Hope that helps!

Hi Alex,

Your results are personal to you as every woman is unique.

It's possible to observe different results from one cycle to another one.

With this product, there are several combinations possible, you can go from Low Fertility to Peak Fertility, or you can have one or 2 or more High Fertility days, which depends on the individual and the cycle, because everybody is different and every cycle is different.

You went from Low Fertility to Peak fertility.

We want to reassure you the test is over 99% accurate, this may indicate that the oestrogen rise and the LH surge occurred at the same time and when that happens, the holder goes straight to Peak Fertility.

You can stop the test now, the smiley will stay on the holder for 48 hours and during these 48 hours, you need to have intercourse in order to maximize your chances to get pregnant.

There is no need to do further tests for the rest of the cycle.

I tested and got a circle. I forgot to take out the stick right away and went to work. When i got back home, the circle turned into a solid smiley. Im assuming this was an error from leaving it in too long. Is that correct? Is there anyway to reset the tester so I can continue testing this cycle? Have I permanently damaged the product or will it work again? Im using the Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Test with the purple lids. Thank you.

Is it possible that the solid smiley was displayed right before you went to work? As Peak Fertility is displayed constantly for 48 hours, after which the Holder will automatically reset. Leaving the test stick inside for a long period of time would not normally be a issue.

When you see Peak Fertility we recommend to have intercourse on both days as these are your two most fertile days in the cycle.

You can also stop testing and save any remaining test sticks for the next cycle if needed.

Hi Haleema,

The flashing smiley face is a rise in estrogen which is usually detected prior to ovulation to make you aware you are closer to ovulation but you still need to carry on testing till you see the solid smiley face (LH surge). Please be advised that when the solid smiley is displayed we typically expect ovulation within 24-36 hours therefore this will be the best time for you to have your IUI as the next 48 hours are your most fertile. Once the solid face is seen you should stop testing in that cycle as there is no need to continue testing. Your Holder will automatically reset itself after approximately 48 hours and can be used with any remaining test sticks in the next cycle if needed. Please make your Doctor aware that the flashing smiley face (High Fertility) means a rise in estrogen was detected, and the solid smiley face (Peak Fertility) is when the LH surge has been detected.
