So confused about the smiley results!

I started using the Clear Blue Advanced Digital ovulation test 6 days ago. On days 1-3 I got an empty circle (low fertility). On days 4 and 5 I got a solid smiley face, but the display did not remain on the test so I'm not sure what that means. Today, day 6 I got the flashing smiley face which should mean high fertility. I am really confused as to why I got a solid smiley before the flashing, and what it means that the solid smileys did not stay on the display. Help!
