Static smiley face after ovulation

I received a static smiley face on 2nd July and made sure to baby dance that night. It’s 5 days later and I took an ovulation test again out of curiosity and it came up with a static smiley face again.. just wondering is that normal? As I was expecting it to be just a blank circle.
