Testing for pregnancy before your period is due

Took a pregnancy test 8 days before my period is due, test said not pregnant but from doing some more reading I see that the earliest to test is 5 days or the day before missed period and that even if the test says not pregnant I actually still could be. How often does this happen?

Hi Gigi, you can test with a Clearblue pregnancy test as early as 5 days before your missed period, which is 4 days before you expect your period to start.  If you test before the date of your expected period and get a 'Not Pregnant' result, there still is a chance you may be pregnant, and you should test again when your period is due.

Clearblue pregnancy tests are more than 99% accurate at detecting pregnancy when used from the day you expect your period to start.  The instruction leaflet that comes with your Clearblue test includes a chart that explains the percentage of accuracy when used before your expected period.
