why didnt it work.. what can i do?

i bought the two pack of clearblue pregnancy tests... i took the first one and the reading sign came up... then an arrow with a book appeard but did not show me my results.. i did exactly what i was supposed to. i dont understand. i threw the box away a couple days ago after i bought the tests to keep it a secret from my fiance. now i cant exchanged them and thats money down the drain.. what went wrong? and what can i do to get a refund? im kinda upset with how this "accurate" and "best test" didnt work?!
