Morning blank and then evening solid smiley - so confused?

Hello,
I have a 30 day cycle and this is my second month using clearblue. Last month I used the Clearblue Digital Sticks and got a smiley on Day 13 and 14. This month I decided to try the Advanced version - today is day 13 and I got a blank circle this morning but I tested this evening after over 6 hours without peeing and I got a solid happy face - never a flashing smiley.
Does this mean I am ovulating or is it a false positive.
Why have I not gotten a flashing smiley? Help I am so confused

We're glad you tried Clearblue Advanced Digital Ovulation Tests this month, Amanda.  It is possible for the test to change from Low Fertility to Peak Fertility without displaying High Fertility.

As you may know, this test tracks the changes in 2 key fertility hormones:  estrogen and LH.  If the necessary changes in estrogen are detected, High Fertility will be displayed (flashing smiley).  And if an LH surge is detected, Peak Fertility will be displayed (solid smiley) continuously for 2 days.  The number of High Fertility days reflects your unique hormone changes and may be more or less than 2.  The test may have skipped High Fertility if your estrogen level wasn't high enough to be detected by the test, if the estrogen and LH changes occurred on the same day, if a test was inadvertently missed, or if the first test began too late in your cycle.  Please know that by finding Peak Fertility, you've still found your 2 best days to conceive.

We would be happy to talk through your questions about this.  In order to give you the appropriate telephone number, in which country are you located?

Hi Briony,

Is it possible you are using more than one Digital Holder?

Regards,

Sally.

Hi sally thanks for replying.

I have done yes, but I used the old one when I kept getting the circle. Maybe I grot the solid face within the 12 hours I didn’t test?

Thank you

Hi Briony,

You need to use the same Digital Holder during one cycle of testing, as the Holder has a memory and stores the information. Ovulation is typically expected 12-16 days before your next period. We recommend if you see 9 or more days of High Fertility (flashing smiley) you can stop testing if you wish as it is less likely to see Peak Fertility after this. The LH surge typically lasts 1-2 days

Regards,

Sally

Hello. I got 7 days of flashing smiley and last night a solid on the advanced opk. I bought the regular clear blue and got a empty circle. My question is should I only stick to one kind during my cycle? I’m driving myself crazy with this.

Hello Tonia,

We recommend you use one Holder consistently during one cycle of testing. The Advanced Digital Ovulation Test tracks your hormone changes during the given cycle and adapts its sensitivity providing it with the capability to detect the LH surge at a lower level. If your urine was more dilute or your surge was lower than the sensitivity of the Digital Ovulation Test (pink one) the Holder will not give the smiley face result. Both tests are over 99% accurate therefore if you are suitable to use the test (this information is in the leaflet and on the box). Now that you have seen Peak Fertility stop testing and have intercourse as you have detected your 2 most fertile days.

Ok so I had 2 holders. I've been using the same one for the last 2 cycles. And yesterday I got a solid smiley. Today the same holder was still displaying the solid smiley as it normally does for 24 hours but I decided to test with the spare one that I have never used yet on the day after I got the smiley and it was an empty circle. I'm confused... please help

Hi Jola,

Please be advised you should use one Holder per cycle, as the Holder has a memory and stores your information during the cycle, it then adapts to your hormones and becomes more sensitive to LH.

Therefore, if you have seen Peak Fertility (solid smiley) with one Holder this result is over 99% accurate as long as you are suitable to use the test; this information is in the leaflet and on the box. The second Holder (which gave Low Fertility) would not have any previous information from the current cycle in its memory and therefore will not be as sensitive.

You should stop testing when Peak Fertility is seen and have intercourse on your two most fertile days, saving any remaining test sticks for your next cycle if needed.

Regards,

Sally.

Hello, I got flashing smiley face in the am when tested. I got back from work and tested again, just to make sure, and I got an empty circle.

What does this mean?

Thank you!

Hi

I got a smiley face yesterday around 6pm and today tested the same time and got a circle. Could it had been a false positive? Am I not ovulating?

Hello I’m hoping you can help me. I tested yesterday morning at about 5am and it was a circle then I tested in the evening around 5pm because I was experiencing some cramps and it was a smiley. But then when I tested this morning at 5am it was a circle again. Was the test wrong? Did I not ovulate?
